FRANCISCO SASTRE, PhD
Hello, I'm Francisco
I'm a social scientist and public health researcher with 18 years of experience. Trained as a medical anthropologist, I've been a passionate advocate on the use of data to improve health services and access to care.
Although my roles extended to different public health settings, I remained focused on developing data-informed strategies to impact health outcomes. This is evident in my role to improve health outcomes working in the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, the Healthy Start Program, and the Graduate Psychology Education Program (HRSA). In addition, I've been involved in research investigating the intersectionality of culture and risk behaviors focused on identifying culturally-specific barriers to improve care and treatment.
I received a Ph.D. from Florida International University (2011) in Comparative Sociology. I hold Master’s degrees in Comparative Sociology (Florida International University, 2009), Latin American Studies (University of Florida, 2000), and Management (University of Florida, 2001).
I spend time living and working in Miami (FL) and Buenos Aires (Argentina). In my spare time, I love urban running and playing fútbol.
